Who thought it would go this far? At least not us, when the thought of raising a fund crossed our mind during a visit to n’pur four years ago. The idea that emerged from a strong belief in doing something for the downtrodden and less fortunate souls with out expecting anything in return was susceptible to fading into oblivion at its inception. But here we are, on the verge of delivering the ‘Joydeep - Soumen’ memorial fund for the fourth time in as many years. Sometimes, I wonder, how this invisible system has managed to achieve the ‘unimaginable’; geographically challenged, the system has overcome many roadblocks rooted by obstinate commitments, and obscure network, every time. The modus operandi, I reckon, is worth a case study in managerial capacities J

Coordinators deserve our tons of ‘thanks’ for undermining all the challenges to support the noble cause; and also all of us, who pitched in tremendously to see it happening one more time. There is also the good news in the offing that perhaps we will be able to create a ‘society’ by next year. Amlan / Sarajit have already started exploring the options, and if all goes well then ‘2007’ will earmark for the ‘society’ funding. This will also enable us to contribute ‘in kind’ apart from ‘direct cash’ support to n’pur. For example, we can identify a few ‘needs’ and then do the needful like donating a ‘brailey’ machine, buying medicines for the hospital, donating books for the library etc.

Coming back to this year’s fund, “a few good men” will handover the consolidated amount to bishnu da on May 14th.

We would like to bring his attention to the following details:

Finally, the fund 2006 will also denote our first official presence over the World Wide Web. The site narendrapur.com will further enhance our integration process and play a key role in bringing many of our classmates in the fore who seem to be lost at this moment.

May god bless us all and let this world emerge as a better place to live in. let us work together to make lives a bit more amicable and affable for those who are not so fortunate like we were.
